Dec 2009
Hello Everyone,
I hope this list finds you all happy and healthy and as surprised as I am that Christmas is around the corner. The year has flown by with poor economies affecting a lot of countries and we can only hope 2010 is a lot brighter. Job losses in South Africa alone have been in the region of 1 million.
May I take this opportunity of wishing those of you in the US a very happy Thanksgiving.
The mining and gem market has been seriously affected this year however prices have remained relatively stable and investors are certainly looking at gemstones as a portable store of wealth. In saying this it is important to buy quality material and this is the problem in that it is becoming scarce. New finds are extremely rare with most African material coming from Nigeria and Tanzania and occasionally Mozambique, Kenya and Madagascar. There is a fair amount of commercial grade material but this is not in demand.
My Christmas list was delayed in the effort to bring you fresh and exciting material and I am happy to say that it boasts some outstanding top quality gems.
As usual we start with the colorful spectrum of Tourmaline – magnificent gems from a new find – blue to blue/green to green some with a bicolor. Please note 2,6,8,11,14,16,21,22,30,32, 43, 50 and 54. These gems are beautifully shaped and offer good recovery and open C axis. There are beautiful electric blues, stunning pinks and tri/bicolors, greens and coppers. The Tanga Garnet is gorgeous – really hot pink nodules with no silk and will cut dynamic gems. Tanzanite is breathtaking cornflower blues and well priced. A huge variety of Zircon, Spinel, Aquamarine (please note Santa Maria # 1)
Morganite and Fanta orange Garnet. Special mention – peppermint Grossular 10, 12.
The Xmas parcels are really nice, very well priced and should not be missed.
This type of quality is a worthwhile investment -I hope you enjoy the list and please let me know if I can be of any help at all.
May I take this opportunity of wishing you and your families and very happy and safe festive season and sincere thanks to all of you for your support during 2009.
Best regards
Brian
